Stone Effect Porcelain Tiles

The stone effect porcelain tile collection consists of different tile sizes such as large format, square, modular patterns and rectangular. With finishes of matt, polished and tumbled effect porcelain and a selection of colours from grey, beige and white, there is a floor tile for every project! The range of stone effect tiles includes realistic and authentic recreations of many popular and timeless stone types such as limestone, sandstone, slate, and travertine. For a contemporary travertine option with soft colours and markings there is the Lavello Bianco, or perhaps you want to mimic a traditional flagstone kitchen floor with the Bayonne range of tumbled stone effect tiles. Many ask are stone effect tiles best for kitchens and ground floors - one big benefit of porcelain is its stain resistance and scratch resistance, meaning it will not stain or scratch overtime and is very easy to maintain.
What is a stone effect tile?

A stone effect tile is a porcelain that closely mimics the colours and patterns of natural stone. These can mimic limestone, sandstone, travertine, slate, and many other natural stone varieties.

Porcelain is a man-made product that combines kaolin clay, finely ground sand and feldspar. The clay mixture is fired to an extremely high temperature, resulting in a very dense tile that benefits from low water absorption and high strength.

What sizes of stone effect tile are available?

One of the main attractions of stone effect tiles is the wide variety of sizes and formats available, from smaller square and rectangular tiles to larger formats including mixed ‘Opus’ patterns. You are sure to find the perfect size and format of stone effect tiles to suit your project.

Should I expect variation in stone effect tiles?

The variations and features to be expected in stone effect tiles depends on the range. Some ranges are contemporary and display little to no variation from tile to tile, whilst other ranges provide a more rustic, limestone like appearance and can therefore mimic veining, fossils and oxidisation. The product page will advise the level of variation the range has.

Are stone effect tiles easy to clean?

The biggest benefit of stone effect tiles made from porcelain or ceramic is their ease of maintenance. You need not worry about staining or scratches due to the non-porous and hardwearing nature of stone effect tiles, and they also do not require sealing. We recommend using both dry and wet methods to keep your stone effect tiles looking their best.

Sweeping and vacuuming (with the soft attachment) is great to pick up crumbs etc from the floor, whilst an occasional mop will keep your stone effect tiles hygienic and lift light stains.

It is important to use cleaning products designed for porcelain flooring; we recommend the Lithofin Conditioning Cleaner for regular cleaning. Always check the manufacturers guidelines and test in a discreet area.

Can I use a steam mop on stone effect tiles?

Yes, due to the tiles low water absorbency, steam mops are suitable to use on stone effect tiles and are a great occasional deep-cleaning method.
