Mediterranean Inspired Tiles: Summer Trends

Inspired by your Summer travels filled with sunshine days in Spanish cortijos or sleepy siestas in Tuscan villages? Us too. This Summers trend of Mediterranean influenced tiles is the perfect way to bring a feeling of the Med into your own home. We’re sharing a few of our favourite tiles this season - think warm terracotta hues, intricate patterned tiles and richly glazed Zellige tiles.

Terracotta Tiles

When we think of stays in Mediterranean villas, terracotta tiles instantly come to mind, perfect for kitchen floors, utilities, bathrooms and hallway tiles. These tiles elevate any space with a rustic Mediterranean warmth. Terracotta effect tiles are the latest choice, offering an authentic replica of popular terracotta floor tiles with warm red, burgundy and orange hues, without the need to be sealed or treated. From a burgundy hexagon bathroom tile to a classic square terracotta kitchen tile, the Oliva range of terracotta effect tiles provide the ultimate terracotta inspired look.

Patterned Tiles

Another Mediterranean influenced tile has to be patterned ceramic and porcelain tiles. The rustic and charming designs you see in traditional properties across the Mediterranean can be incorporated into your own home with porcelain and ceramic tiles offering a hardwearing and realistic look. The Pamplona range of decorative tiles take inspiration from famous Italian ‘Majolica’ tiles, originally hand painted by artisan craftsmen. Available in three shades, Pamplona Azul, Rosso and Blanco, all three feature a delicate blue colour palette, with the Rosso offering contrasting rich red tones and the Azul hues of burnt orange. The Deia patterned tiles are another favourite this Summer with an authentic appearance to each tile, in two shades Rojo and Verde. The Deia Rojo has a rich rust toned background with traditional off-white patterning that works beautifully in bathrooms seeking the Med feel.

Zellige Tiles

A final Mediterranean inspired trend this Summer is choosing Zellige style tiles. Reminiscent of original artisanal, enamel-coated tiles crafted in Morocco with a rich glaze, unique texture and beautiful variation of pigments. These tiles add a rustic charm to walls and splashbacks from warm whites such as Farini Chalk to varying palettes of pinks and reds such as the Farini Plaster and Farini Cinnamon.
