July brings us the height of Summer with balmy sunny days and warm evenings that stretch on and on. Whether it’s a solitude morning coffee in the sunshine or a late afternoon get together with family – the garden is the place to be! As a Summer exclusive to celebrate the season, we’re sharing a little glimpse of a wonderful country garden and pool, recently renovated with our very own Clermont Gris limestone paving and cobbles.
Set in 18 acres of land, this 19th century country estate boasts wild meadows, a large, tended lawn and two woodlands - as well as the established formal gardens with an original brick wall surrounding, and swimming pool complete with a pool house. The house itself dates back to the Regency era; a period of time noted for its elegance and achievements in the arts and architecture. Now, the owners have sympathetically maintained the beauty and charm of the original gardens, with a stunning Italian parterre garden and cypress tree avenue framing the recently renovated pool area.
The swimming pool was an addition from the last 20 years and when the owners purchased the estate in 2018, it had old, stained square slate tiles surrounding - offering no grip or being in keeping with the gardens. The owners came to Quorn Stone in search for a traditional outdoor flagstone paver that would be suitable for a high traffic swimming pool area to replace the slate tiles. They chose the Clermont Gris aged-tumbled limestone paving for its rustic texture, providing plenty of grip underfoot, as well as fitting perfectly with the character of the space. This grey limestone paver is also very hardwearing with intricate fossil details and varying tones throughout – up to the task of a high-traffic pool side area!
An elegant pathway in our Clermont Gris aged-tumbled limestone cobbles leads you to the main limestone patio area with an outdoor dining set, sun loungers and access to the pool house and swimming pool. As part of the project, bespoke pool coping was fabricated by hand in our workshop to fit the dimensions and designs of the existing pool flawlessly.
Now a finished project, being in their outdoor space is a favourite thing to do in the Summer. From an early morning swim, an afternoon reading by the pool or alfresco dining in the evening, this beautiful garden has been created to appreciate, relax and enjoy!
